Paul R. Rundle

I was raised in Vancouver, Washington and obtained my undergraduate degree from the University of Washington, in Seattle, Washington. I received my law degree in 1992 from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a private, ivy-league institution that consistently ranks in the top-ten out of 193 ABA-approved law schools (recent national ranking of 7, U.S. News and World Report).

Before entering private practice, I served as a Deputy District Attorney for Multnomah County in Portland, Oregon, where I tried dozens of jury cases and achieved a high ratio of prosecution verdicts. I then worked as a civil litigation attorney at one of the Pacific Northwest’s largest law firms. Later, I joined a medium-sized law firm in Portland, Oregon emphasizing business, real estate, construction, and employment litigation throughout Oregon and Washington, where I became the youngest attorney in the firm to attain partnership. After practicing for over 11 years in Oregon and Washington, I opened my own firm in 2003.

During over 24 years practicing law, I have taken more than 70 cases through trial, including approximately 50 to juries, and have handled and resolved before trial hundreds of other cases in state and federal court, or arbitration/mediation, throughout Oregon and Washington.  I obtained a jury verdict of $12.1 million for a client in federal court, and obtained complete defense judgments for clients defending against claims well in excess of $1 million.  I represented a group of investors in a staunchly defended federal securities fraud case against several large firms and brought home a settlement valued at over $3.5 million.  I have briefed and orally argued several cases in the state Supreme Court and Court of Appeals.  In my last appearance before the Oregon Surpreme Court, I achieved a unanimous decision overturning dismissal in a hard fought legal malpractice case for $650,000 against one of the Pacific Northwest's largest law firms, culminating in a confidential settlement.  I have represented small, medium, and large companies and individuals, including several regional and national banks and title companies, in diverse litigation matters.

My practice focuses on civil litigation, including trials and arbitration, and dispute resolution, including mediation, throughout Oregon and Washington, in several areas: Business litigation (including contract disputes), real estate and construction litigation, employment litigation, legal malpractice claims, insurance claims, and other litigation.

As for personal interests, I am a classical pianist with a deep affinity for the works of Chopin, Liszt, Schumann, and Rachmaninoff. I am an avid traveler and scuba diver, voracious reader of history, and fine wine enthusiast.  I also enjoy precision marksmanship using my own home-crafted ammunition.  Other interests include skiing and tennis. I live in Vancouver, Washington with my wife and two daughters.

I sometimes employ experienced associate attorneys, and often co-counsel with experienced "partner-level" attorneys, on an independent contractor basis to assist in certain cases as needed, with client consent.
